Rowland's voice-over work has embraced everything from pop videos and corporate product information to talking books and documentaries.
Rowland has worked as a sound designer for events, theatrical productions and stage shows, for which he has also been commissioned to write musical scores. He has written jingles and incidental music for radio stations, telephone answering services and web sites.
Working alongside charities such as RNIB, Guide Dogs, the Talking News Federation and British Wireless for the Blind Fund, Rowland has produced and edited audio for the benefit of the two million blind and partially-sighted people in the UK who can't access the printed word and he founded the charity Infosound, which provides free and impartial news and information for those who live with sight loss. Rowland chaired a consortium of national vision-impairment-related charities promoting digital audio formats and is now Subject Lead in audio for the UK Association for Alternative Formats.
Rowland still has his own set of screwdrivers.
